I considered my family’s opinions during our visits to gain more unbiased insights and build up the reliability of my recommendation. But their price rate can be expensive, and they have long waiting times. As a food lover, a parent, and a writer, I made it my mission to discover the best and hidden culinary gems in town.

“Orlandeaux’s Café is an African-American family-owned eatery that has been a pillar of the community. The eatery is becoming a big part of the community and a favorite breakfast and brunch spot for locals. And around here, it’s used for just about anything from a dipping sauce for crawfish to the secret ingredient in a tasty homemade potato salad. In fact, city officials recently proclaimed it as the oldest Black family-owned restaurant in the nation.

Athena’s Greek and Lebanese Grill is a beautiful family-owned Mediterranean restaurant that opened in 2002. I did all this to share the best restaurants in Shreveport to visit and find the perfect spot to fit your needs. Furthermore, I socialized and talked with its patrons to know what they had to say about their experiences while eating at these restaurants.

Chapman’s passion for Shreveport-Bossier culture makes him the perfect member of the community to showcase the area’s unique flavor, style, and soul that visitors crave. The owner of the beloved Shreveport-Bossier restaurant, Orlandeaux’s Cross Lake Café, will represent the area on the national stage at the 2025 Rose Parade. Chef Damien “Chapeaux” Chapman is committed to staying at the heart of the Black community and making sure Orlandeaux’s remains a destination where visitors can experience Shreveport-Bossier’s rich culture and history. Once perfectly crispy, visitors traditionally dip their Shreveport-Style Stuffed Shrimp in the classic Creole Tartar sauce.

This Italian restaurant bullard seafood started in Shreveport in 1987 and serves authentic Sicilian food. Jack Binion’s specializes in steak and seafood, but there are options for chicken dishes if you’re looking for something leaner. Located in Bossier City’s Horseshoe Casino, this fine dining restaurant serves dishes prepared by award-winning chefs.

But how about Croatian or Vietnamese….or Italian or German….or the underestimated plain Southern food they do so well in the upstate parishes? What you’ll find here is food that reflects everybody’s cooking. I grew up eating & loving all the foods of Louisiana and the idea is to collect lots of them right here on this website. These actually freeze pretty well so if you make a double batch you can reheat on a rack for a delicious fast food meal. Once the shrimp and the stuffing are formed, place in a slotted spoon and lower into the batter then bring it up for air and let the excess batter drip off.

They are always busy but get you taken care of in a timely manner. Much love for such an amazing staff and comfy restaurant. Great service, great employees, great food. We will definitely make our way back here the next time we’re in town! There was a wait time but it was worth the wait!!! The food and service was great!!!

Before Shreveport saw its first TV broadcast on KTBS (1955)… before there was a Strand Theater (1925)… The aroma of delicious Creole food wafted from the kitchen at Freeman and Harris Café. He’s renamed the restaurant after in father and in classic creole style, Orlandeaux’s. Damien Chapman takes his father’s place as the 5th generation chef.
